Mac News: iOS 6: The opposite of widgets
Last week I ruminated out loud about whether or not Apple needs to redesign the iOS Home screen. We’ve continued to discuss it on the podcast and in the forums and I realized something: as much as it’d be nice to information from apps and make it glanceable on the Home Screen, it’d be even better to take functionality of apps and make it accessibly from within other apps.

Programming News: Supporting IE Is Too Much Work
Yesterday the bitching about IE seemed to be worse than normal. I believe it started with the post “We don’t support Internet Explorer, and we’re calling that a feature” by @Paydirt. When reading the article i was thinking about the insane amount of time I spend on getting sites to work on IE6 and reading that only 1.63% of their traffic uses IE, it makes sense not to support it.

Standards News: Digital object identifier (DOI) becomes an ISO standard
A new International Standard that provides a system for assigning a unique international identification code to objects for use on digital networks is expected to bring benefits for publishers, information managers, multi-media distributors, archive and cultural heritage communities, and the internet technology industry.
