2017-03-27 Recovery Day 21

As reported the evening of day 20 was another Big Bang event first starting with nausea with the uncontrollable urge to vomit, which needed to prevented, and finally the out of control pain. The good news, somehow I fail asleep and by midnight the pain was gone. The rest of the night (noon to early morning 5:30) was mostly pain free, and I even got some sleep.

The morning was used to get ready for the afternoon’s Carfilzomib treatment via infusion pump. I put my vitals for the days since being back home, as well as some questions for the RN together regarding my morning lightheadedness, which may be because of so many meds and my nausea and pain after taking Revlimid.

Today will be the day I will take all three treatments, starting in the late morning with Dexamethasone, followed by afternoon’s Carfilzomib and in the evening by Revlimid.

My afternoon’s Carfilzomib treatment was the first outside the hospital at the local cancer center. It lasted about 2 hours, most of that time was for hydration and pre-meds infusion. Regarding my questions about lightheadedness, adjustments where made to my Zofran dose and time schedule. As to the Revlimid issue, I now will take my PM meds at 5:00 PM, the Zofran at 6:00 PM and the Revlimid at 7:00 PM. The spacing in the schedule should eliminate the nausea and pain issues.

It is now 7:30 PM, and the nausea and pain has not increased. It is time for going upstairs to take a shower and get ready for the night. Should thing change to become another big band event it will be in my early report tomorrow morning.

    Klaus,

Great to see your blogs each day. I’m sure it’s good to be home. I’ll pray that your pain and nausea subside and medication gets balanced so you can tolerate it and feel somewhat normal.
