Last night I did not get much sleep because of the catheter in my neck. After breakfast we took a taxi to the hospital since wanted us early there. I was hooked up to the machine around at 8:30 and collection started at 8:40. Around 10:00 the CBC results came in with my blood count being 30.0 an increase from 7.2 yesterday. At 11:00 the Peripheral Blood count came in at 55.0 vs yesterday’s count of 12.
I had a good sleep last night. Waking up this morning I had the same pain which quickly disappeared. However, weather was a bit to cold and windy, we took a taxi agin. We arrived 30 minutes early, got registered, and 10 minutes later my blood was drawn. Normally it takes about 45-60 minutes for the results to be available, today is was less then 30 minutes. The WBC was 7.2, 4 times what it was yesterday and way higher then required to start the white blood cell collection tomorrow.
Compared to the night before I had a bad night of sleep. Around midnight I felt a new pain in the Sternum area, and it scared me because of my heart attach history. Waking up this morning I had the same pain, which did not get better after breakfast. Therefore instead of walking to the hospital like yesterday we took a taxi. We arrived around 7:45 on time and registered by 8:00. By 8:35 I got my blood drawn and was told that the results would be available in an hour. BTW, I check with the nurse about the Sternum area pain and was told that I should not worry as this is good news telling us that the Neupogen injections are working.
Compared to the night before I had a good sleep. Which is interesting since before going to sleep last night I had a lot of pain. Waking up this morning was the same lots of pain, which got better after breakfast allowing me to walk to the hospital. The walk is about 1/2 mile with the last block going upwards a bit. We left the Hotel around 7:15.
There was not much sleep for me last night as pain got me up almost every hour. So today getting up was no different from yesterday as I still had pain throughout my body. The pain was so bad that I only eat half of my breakfast. For the rest of the morning I rested which helped a bit lowering the pain level. An hour before lunch I packed up Dianne’s and my laptop for our visit at UCSF MC this week this Monday, and hopefully a few more days.
Getting up today I still was faced with pain through out my body. After breakfast I took all my morning pills and rested a bit before going out with Dianne for my morning walk. After returning from our walk, Dianne cut my hair outside in our backyard. Since my pain had returned I went inside and watched Bayern beat Bremen 2:0, which I had recorded earlier today. After the game I went outside for a short walk. I returned just in time for lunch.
Today seemed to be a good day. I started in the morning with watering the flowers. After that I cleaned up the many spider webs. I had planned after this to clean up my office but instead I had to sit down and rest because of suddenly feeling dizziness and quizzyness again. I had a FaceTime call with Ray talking about the process I will undergo in the next few days. Afterwards it was time to have lunch and to get ready to put together my stuff I needed to go for my CBC blood test later on.
Today was just another day for getting ready for the stem cell collection next week. In the morning I had a Skype session with Francois and Paul catching up with the whole process I am undergoing this week and how the stem cell collection will work, assuming that the white cell count is in range on Monday. A little bit later I had a short Face Time call with Ray. One topic we had was the possibility of connecting next week. Since UCSF has a guest network that covers every corner of their area that should not be a problem, assuming that there are no restrictions for safety reasons.
So how was today? Simple answer, almost like yesterday. After breakfast I went outside to relax a bit. Since Monday was a bad day for me I had skip calling Jürgen, so I decided to call him. During the call I noticed that our fountain was not working because of a lack of water. After the call with Jürgen I got up and filled the fountain, and since I had the water house on, I decided to water all the flowers and bird baths.
Today was a much better day than yesterday. I got up had breakfast, after that I went for my short walk in front of our house. After that I started to contact some of my family and friends via Skype or FaceTime. I spoke to Francois, Ray, Hannelore, Peter and Don. Before I know it, it was lunch time. What a difference compared with yesterday. I was full of energy in the morning, I even went for a second walk after lunch.
