2017-08-18 Recovery Day 165

Today is the day for the start of the Stem Cell Transplant. Step 1 is the the Cytoxan chemo infusion. However, because it is very toxic I receive before and after other fluids for protection. In summary, zxtoday was very good day, better than I had expected. Have we reached the turning point? We will find out by the end of this week, since this week every day will have a appointment for something.

The regiment I received today was as follows:

  • Step 1
    • Fosaprepitant (IV)
      • It is used to prevent upset stomach and throwing up from chemo
  • Step 2
    • Lorazepam (Pill)
      • It is used to ease anxiety before surgery
      • It is used to treat seizures
    • Granisetron (Pill)
      • It is used to prevent upset stomach and throwing up from chemo
    • Dexamethasone (Systemic) (Pill)
      • It is used for many health problems like allergy signs, asthma, adrenal gland problems, blood problems, skin rashes, or swelling problems.
      • In my case is used for nausea
  • Step 3
    • Mesna (IV) over 8 hours
      • It is used to lower the bad effects of some cancer drugs on the bladder.
    • One (1) liter of normal saline over 1 hour
  • Step 4
    • 20 mg (IV) Lasix
      • It is used to reduce fluid retention (edema) and swelling.
