2018-10-24 Recovery Day 597

Today was a better day! Health-wise it was a repeat of yesterday, minus the morning dizziness. Starting my morning walk, the pain started again around my ankle, however, the level was not as high as yesterday. I continued my walk and the pain level decreased as long as I walked. However, at the end of my walk, my hips pain had increased. During the day both, ankle and hip pain showed up when I walked for a few minutes. In the afternoon I went to the local hospital for X-rays of my left ankle, as ordered by my doctor. Moving forward, Step 1, X-Rays (which I just did), if nothing is there we go to step 2, a PET/CT.

The results from the X-Rays showed no cancer, only arthritis, something I am aware of, it finally got more active. Interesting enough I have had arthritis flare-up pains and movement lockups in my left knee many years ago, which with walking over time disappeared. I hope the same will happen here. However, I have been advised a pet/ct will be scheduled to make sure there is no cancer activity since it not only my knee but hips as well.

Activity-wise, it was not a too busy day. Before breakfast, Dianne called me to tell me about the beautiful sunrise she is seeing. Sadly the same was not true for my location. However, I was able to catch PICTURES of the sun rays coloring the clouds. Maybe tomorrow I will be lucky to get some early sunrise photos. After breakfast, I got ready for my morning walk without Dean, as I do every Wednesday, around the neighborhood.

After returning home, I had some contractors arriving to fix the transition strips between our wood and ceramic tile flooring downstairs. Afterward, I rested and watched on ESPN the documentary “Catholics vs. Convicts,” revisiting the classic Oct. 15, 1988, the showdown between No. 1 Miami and No. 4 Notre Dame. It’s one of the immortal regular-season games in college football history because of the culture clash between Miami under Jimmy Johnson and Notre Dame under Lou Holtz. The Irish won that game 31-30 in South Bend, and it lives on to this day.

In between watching the documentary, I prepared and had lunch. After the game, I got ready for Dianne to pick me up and take me to the local hospital for my ankle X-rays. After the hospital visit, we both went home. I rested since my hip and ankle pain was back again. I used the rest time to upload today’s photos.

The next thing was trying to create a disk image, as a backup, of my server system since I planned a major OS upgrade. But I did run into a big problem, my system refuses to boot of my external DVD and even my bootable USB stick. At one point my system no longer booted of my internal solid-state drive. I finally got it back to what it was before playing around with it. I stopped for today and instead started to write today’s posting.

That is it for today. In short – It was a better day. The day ended the way each day ends, with us doing a bit more TV watching to relax before calling it a day.
