2019-02-26 Living with Cancer – Day 722

Today was a very bad day, it started with a night of pain when getting up to go to the bathroom. Getting up around 8:00 to get dressed was rather painful as my shoulders, sides (running for under my arm towards my chest (ribcage) on both sides) and breast areas, wherein pain when touched or part of a movement. I had hoped that once moving around the pain level would lower itself as it did in the past, however not today.

Because of the pain not reducing itself, I canceled my morning walk with Dean. It still was at the same high level around 11:00, I also canceled my participation for today’s Cancer support group meeting. I also took a Dilaudid pill, something I have not used for almost a year, if not more.

Dilaudid is a centrally acting pain medication of the opioid class. It is made from morphine. One reason for limiting its use is the side effects, especially constipation. The use for me is that it serves as a breakthrough medication to be taken every 3 hours. By 2:00 PM, the pain level had not been reduced, I, therefore, took my second Dilaudid pill.

I was able, ignoring the pain for about 15 minutes to take today’s PICTURES a set of an indoor decoration on our patio for better lighting. However, that was it for today’s activity. After taking my first I fell asleep waking up just around lunchtime.

After lunch I started with processing today’s pictures and worked on my Living with Cancer and Photography blog entry. It took some time as I had periods of dozing off for periods of 10 to 15 minutes. Before I knew it, it was dinner time. After dinner, I watched with Dianne and Denise some TV before calling it a day.

In summary, overall today was not a good day.
