Today was very bad day. I decided last night to continue with taking Dilaudid every 3 hours starting at 9:00 PM. After 3:00 AM most of my pain was gone, except my pain in my shoulder area, which hurt when I turned in my bed. I got up early at 7:00 since I needed to be ready at 8:30 for Dean to take me to the Cancer Center. However, getting dressed was rather painful as suddenly like yesterday all my pain points got active the more I moved. It was so bad That I was not sure I wanted to the Cancer Center for Treatment. I decided to go hoping that at least my resting during the all-day treatment would help.
Since my movements were limited today because it was Treatment Day, I took this set of indoor decorations from sitting in my recliner at the infusion room. I started taking Dilaudid, and I continued taking it every 3 hours today.
My Oncology Doctor suggested continuing taking Dilaudid until our next scheduled appointment. If it marked the pain but does not eliminates it, it is a sign that my Fentanyl Patches have lost their effectiveness as my system to immune to it. It is time to find another solution to control the baseline pain.
I spend most of my day resting and receiving my medication via IV. Since I can’t walk outside nor inside, I decided to take some pictures of balloon animals in the infusion room. These balloons were created by Mark Tadena who creates them before the Cancer Support Group meetings and at the end of the meeting, he leaves them in the Infusion Room. The patients really like them as it gets their minds of cancer they all trying to beat.
I got back home around 4:00 PM. I started with processing today’s pictures and worked on my Living with Cancer and Photography blog entry. It took some time as my system had to deal with all those chemo medications I addition to the Dilaudid. I had a hell of a time to concentrate in addition to dozing off every so often. Before I knew it, it was dinner time. After dinner I watched with Dianne and Denise some TV, however, I had to stop very early as my system just needed rest, and I, therefore, called it a day.
In summary, overall today was a very bad day.
