Today was a good day! It started at 6:30 with me watching Bayern München vs Fortuna Düsseldorf, which Bayern won 4:0. The game was over 8:15, just in time for me to be dressed and ready to go with Dianne and Denise to San Francisco for the Great Dickens Christmas Fair. This is the 37th Season and 20th Year at the Historic Cow Palace. Inside it is the recreation of Old London, the Docks, Nickelby Road, Victoria & Albert Music Hall, and Fish Street with all it pubs and restaurants serving English as well as other food common during the Dickens Period. Some come for the food, others for the theater plays and/or vendors selling old English Merchandise.
The Fair spans over 3 acres, lots of streets (walkways) to explore. To make things easier for me we rented a wheelchair, which was a great help. I enjoyed watching the performance at the Mad Sal’s Music Hall Extravaganza, before moving across to Fish Street for lunch. Dianne and I had each an English Banger with Mashed Potatoes & Peas and French Onion Soup at Mr. Barker’s Bangers.
Afterward we went through the rest of the streets, looking at some jewelry or other handmade merchandise such as a porcelain angel or multicolored layered candles. There was so much interesting stuff to look at and maybe even buy, as Denise did. We ended our visit with a stop on Nickeley Roads Chocolates’ stand for some fudge, truffle and English toffee.
By the time we got back home it was time for me rest and get hydrated. After relaxing in my recliner I started working on this blog entry, it is so much easier to write when the memory is still fresh, specially when one has to deal with short memory lapses, called Chemo Brain.
There is not much more to write about, there was nothing special for the rest of the afternoon and evening. For dinner, we had Mod Pizza, for me I had the Hawaiian pizza, topped with tomato sauce, cheese, pineapple, and ham.
That’s it for today, which was a very active day for me.
