2020-01-24 Living with Cancer Day 1052

Waking Up – 06:35:32 PST, 43°F Partly Cloudy, Antioch, CA
I woke up around 6:00 to check on my weather station’s data and other sources to compose my submission to Steve at KTVU. I got it completed by 6:30 and used Twitter to deliver it.

I tried to stay awake to check my mail and news feeds but dozed off more than being awake.

Staying Awake – 07:37:15 PST, 45°F Partly Cloudy, Antioch, CA
Finally, I started to stay awake, no more dozing off. My pain level is around an acceptable 5/6. However, to manage it for the whole day, I am instructed to rest as much as possible. It, therefore, will be a Lazy Day!

Let’s go back to the pain level scale for a moment. The issue is, not every doctor or hospital uses the same definition, leave alone the patients even understand it. I decided, therefore, to research it a bit, finding two scales that are very close to each other.

Based on that scale, my pain level is around 6/7 (moderate to severe) instead of my original indication of 5/6 (moderate). I will make available online both the PDFs, but not this week.

Lazy Friday – 08:30:23 PST, 46°F Partly Cloudy, Antioch, CA
Since my pain level continued to slowly increase, I kept my activities to a minimum, making this a Lazy Friday.

The pain location is the same, I also can start feeling the cancer lesion. I am not surprised at the pain increasing because of cancer growing again. Until I start any new treatment, there is nothing stopping it.

I spend some time getting ready for lunch with my ex-Premenos co-workers. Doing so before, such as having my lunch ready to go, eliminates the rushing around when they arrive. The rest of the time, before they come, I used to watch some TV.

Lunch with the Boys – 11:45:48 PST, 59°F Partly Cloudy, Antioch, CA
Greg was the first to arrive since he could not stay long. Bill arrived just as I had explained to Greg my current status. It did not take too long for Larry and his wife (Shirley) to arrive. Since it has been a long time for Larry to join us in person, therefore it was great that his wife drove him to today’s lunch.

Greg stayed until Larry and his wife gave us a full update about his current status. He is in a similar situation like me, and without his wife’s help would be in an awful position. On a positive note, he is slowly improving.

Larry stayed around a bit longer after Greg has left. We stopped talking about our illnesses for the rest of the lunch and talked about the train trips Bill and I had last week. Larry has taken it a long time ago as well. We talked a bit about Bucket Lists, which may not be applicable to Bill but are for Larry and me.

Larry left soon after, to make sure he is not overdoing it on the drive back to Vacaville. Bill stayed around so we could talk about him using Flickr to share the many photos he took during his trip. By the time Bill left, Dianne had arrived from work and chatted with him for a while.

The rest of the Lazy Friday – 14:20:42 PST, 64°F Clear, Antioch, CA
The rest of the lazy Friday was used to complete yesterday’s blog entry and sort out a number of outstanding issues with Flickr and Day one. Making sure that the syncing between the three devices is working properly.

For dinner Dianne barbecued cheeseburgers with an egg in the middle. It was something special. After our dinner, we watched some TV before going to bed to call it a day.
