2020-02-03 Living with Cancer Day 1062
Overall today was a more painful day. Also, I did fall asleep more often. I am told that this is a side effect of the Dilaudid. I have a choice, sleep or stay awake with pain.
Early Morning – 06:44:34 PST, 36°F Clear, Antioch, CA
My mornings are all the same, I wake up around 7:00 and are downstairs latest by 8:30. Today was that way almost that way, I woke up at 6:45 and downstairs at 8:00. I was a bit earlier since I had to be ready for pickup by Dianne at 9:00 for my 9:15 appointment.
As to my pain level, it was rather high, a 9 for my shoulder pain, which recovered when I rested to an 8. My lower back pain showed up when walking for a few minutes and got lower when resting.
Doctor Appointment – 09:00:48 PST, 43°F Clear, Antioch, CA
The doctor’s appointment was all about how the first cycle of the new treatment affected my CBS number, specifically the WBC and Platelets. The numbers did go down a bit, but not too low and therefore I was cleared for the next treatment cycle, which is an increase in dose.
However, to make sure the numbers stay in range, I will be going for my blood draw twice a week, Mondays and Thursdays. From now on it is a waiting game to see what the new treatment will do.
Photo Tour – 10:35:00 PST, 46°F Clear, 8793–8801 Deer Valley Rd, Antioch, CA
Dean and I started a bit late today to chase down Mount Diablo. Driving along Deer Valley Road we came across a new development full of new tree plantings. Stopping at the entry (Deer Valley and Balford) we found out the name of the place, it is an active Olive Oil producing ranch, called Vino Olive Ranch. I took enough pictures for a small album that I uploaded to Flickr.
The Ranch was part of the former Roddy Ranch. It is owned by Sean McCauley, who owns other olive oil producing companies in Brentwood.
Lunch and Afternoon – 12:00:43 PST, 50°F Clear, Antioch, CA
I got home in time to take my medication and have lunch. Today I heated up a Creamy Tomato and Basil Soup with two slices of Sourdough Bread. I rested, fell asleep afterward for about an hour.
The next I spend time on the photos I took today. I started with uploading the photos, followed by replacing the camera assigned file name with one that starts with the Date and Time. It helps in recalling what the photo was all about at that time and allows better computer sorting.
Dinner and End OF Day – 17:00:35 PST, 50°F Clear, Antioch, CA
After uploading the photos and a short nap, it was dinner time. Being a cold day, Dianne’s Mother recipe for the Cheese Tomato Hamburger Macaroni Casserole was the right choice.
The rest of the day was finishing this blog entry without falling asleep and watching TV in the background.
