This category is about my road to recovery from Multiple Myeloma (MM). MM is a cancer that forms in a type of white blood cell called a plasma cell. Plasma cells help you fight infections by making antibodies that recognize and attack germs.

2018-06-19 Recovery Day 470

Today was another good day. I continue to be able to sleep well. Getting up there were no signs of dizziness, nausea or excess pain in my shoulder and hips. Since the forecast for today called for high heat, our plan is to leave earlier, shortly after breakfast. We left for the DOW wetland shortly after 8:00.

2018-06-18 Recovery Day 469

Today was a good day. It started with being able to sleep last night. Getting up there were no signs of dizziness, nausea or excess pain in my shoulder and hips. After Breakfast I went with Dean across the Antioch Bridge onto Sherman Island via Highway 160. We turned of the main road onto W. Sherman Island Rd to go towards the end to see the Windsurfers.

2018-06-17 Recovery Day 467

Today was another so-so day. It started with not being able to sleep past midnight. I was up every hour until I got up at 7:00. The good news no signs of dizziness or nausea, the bad news the pain level in my shoulder was at higher level then normally and both of my hips were hurting. I started to have breakfast and watched the World Cup game Germany against Mexico, which Mexico won. Since my pain level did not lower itself I decided to take a Dilaudid hoping that it will bring my pain down.

2018-06-16 Recovery Day 467

Today was a so-so day. The day started without any signs of dizziness or nausea, and the pain level in my shoulder was at normal level. Since tomorrow is Father’s Day, Dianne took me out for breakfast a day earlier to bypass the crowds tomorrow. After breakfast we went to the farmers market to get the ingredients for Dianne’s Minestrone soup.

2018-06-15 Recovery Day 466

Today was a good day. The day started without any signs of dizziness or nausea, and the pain level in my shoulder was at normal level. After breakfast and taking my medication I started watching the end of the World Cups game, Egypt vs Uruguay. After that I did my morning walk with Dean. The walk did not result in any increased in my shoulder or back pain. The rest of the day the pain levels stayed were they were at the start of the day.

2018-06-14 Recovery Day 465

For starters today was a good day. The day started like most others, no signs of dizziness or nausea, and the pain level in my shoulder was at normal level. After breakfast and taking my medication I started watching the first half of the World Cups opening game, Russia vs Saudi Arabia. After that it was time for my morning walk with Dean. Before going into the details of my activities today, let me finish my health status during the day.

2018-06-13 Recovery Day 464

For starters today was a bad day. Getting up there were no signs of dizziness or nausea. The pain level in my shoulder was at normal level. After breakfast and taking my medication I started my morning walk earlier because of the heat. Since it is Wednesday I walk alone. After returning home I rested a bit, but within an hour my left shoulder started to hurt.

I stopped yesterday’s posting after having returned from our walk through the DOW’s Wetland Preserve. Since I could not remember what happed afterwards I stop the posting there.

2018-06-11 Recovery Day 462 (Part 1)

Today was a day I have never encountered before. One phrase sums it all up:

Not sure what happened

Here is what I do know:

There were no signs of dizziness or nausea. However, there was pain everywhere, upper and lower back, hip, knee and foot joints. After breakfast and morning medication, which today also included Dilaudid to help with the pain. Afterwards I and Dean I went walking in our neighbor hood.
