In 2001 I became officially a Mac User with the release of OS X (Version 10.0). I say officially, since until that time I was only a part-time Mac users supporting my Daughter on her Mac running OS 8 and 9. My main reason for getting interested in OS X was the fact that it was a UNIX based system. I started of with UNIX in the late 80’ owning a AT&T UnixPC (3B1). The windowing manager was absolutely wonderful keeping the UNIX system well hidden, however, you could naturally open a shell and interface directly. When SUSE release its Linux distribution in 1994 I retired my 3B1 and switch over using it on my laptops until OS X arrived.
Since becoming a OS X users I have converted many PC users to the new Mac Operating System, something I was not able to do with Linux, not because of lack of trying. Part of my spiel was, and still is, to offer help and support so that the new users could feel comfortable and secure in the new world they were entering. Lucky for me that the demand on my time was rather small because of the intuitive way OS X and its applications are.
However, there have been questions, some repeatedly, about how to do something that either is not a standard operation or different from the PC environment. I answered those inquires each time using email, iChat or the phone.
At the start of 2008 my Mac user community had grown to considerably, so I decided to create a web site to permanently record the questions and answers so that they will help others.
So if you are a Mac user feel free to visit the site. The site has Tips and Hints, Tutorials, Reviews and FAQ sections. In addition there is also a Forum to allow Mac users to get involved, be it that they have questions or want to provide their own solution(s) to those that have asked for help.
