Almost thirty hours since the iPad announcement and still critics are pulling out their guns and shooting at Apple's latest creation. The overall reaction has been rather negative. What was hotly anticipated has mostly turned into cold soup. So what happened and what has been said?

My first web sites I design, way back, were all done using a text editor to code each page in HTML. Over time tools became available that made the task easier. These days the two dominate Open Source tools for web site and blog design are Wordpress and Drupal. However, as good as they are I find them an overkill for this web site.

BuddyPress - Review Conclusion

The good news, BuddyPress is a Wordpress MU plugin and because of it you basically install it with the click of a button through the admin section. The bad news is, WordPress MU is a simple system for launching a practically limitless network of blogs.

BuddyPress - Fine Tuning

As mention in my last BP post, I finally got the three components (WP MU, BP and bbPress) to work together allowing me to evaluate the system. It was not without running into problems, the biggest one was the integration between WP MU and bbPress since both are actually stand-alone systems.

Setting up BuddyPress

As mention before one of my choices was to base my site on the Insoshi project, an open-source social networking platform based on RubyOnRails, since I had played around with its predecessor, RailsSpace. However, as good as the Insoshi looked, and its code base being very clear because of the Rails’ MVC architecture, I decided against it.
