2020-02-04 Living with Cancer Day 1063
Today was not a bad day. My pain levels were high after getting up, the medication lowered it a bit to a level that was acceptable for most of the day. However, at the end of the day, the right shoulder pain picked at a level 8. I hope it stays that way until 9:00 when I can take another Break Down medication.

Overall today was a more painful day. Also, I did fall asleep more often. I am told that this is a side effect of the Dilaudid. I have a choice, sleep or stay awake with pain.
Early Morning – 06:44:34 PST, 36°F Clear, Antioch, CA
My mornings are all the same, I wake up around 7:00 and are downstairs latest by 8:30. Today was that way almost that way, I woke up at 6:45 and downstairs at 8:00. I was a bit earlier since I had to be ready for pickup by Dianne at 9:00 for my 9:15 appointment.

Today was overall not a good day. It started off with some real bad pain, which reduced itself, but not enough to at least calling it a so-so pain day. I tried walking around to loosen the muscles, but that did the opposite, it causes more pain in my back. Hopefully, I will have a good sleep to recover from some of that pain.

2020-02-01 Living with Cancer Day 1060
The day started off very well, not much pain in my lower back. However, as the day progressed the shoulder pain started to surface. It did not help being confined to sitting because of talking to the AT&T support team. In addition to the pain levels increased as the day went along, the falling asleep became an issue as well.

Today was interesting from my health perspective. Overall my pain level was what I would call stable at a slightly higher level. However, trying to stay awake was not easy and, in the end, I just fell asleep going to bed very early.

Healthwise, this being the 4th day of the new treatment, the main side effect is dozing off and dizziness. As to the pain locations and levels, no change from the days before. I can walk with the cane for about 5 to 10 minutes depending on the activity. If I move around too much my lower backstops me from doing more. For now, I can live with it, hoping I can make the adjustment that will help in the elimination or at least reducing the side effects.

Today was a busy but good day. My pain levels were low after getting up but increased during the activities in preparation for our trip to UCSF. The levels got a bit lower during the drive, but increased during the appointment time and have stayed at a higher level for the rest of the day.

Waking Up – 07:21:21 PST, 45°F Possible Drizzle, Antioch, CA
I got up early since I have a Blood Draw appointment at 8:30 followed by my 9:00 Chemo Tech. The later is because I am starting a new treatment, which is “Pill” based and called ‘Venclexta’. The plan is to start the treatment today, assuming no objection from the doctors.

Early Shower – 07:05:14 PST, 54°F Mostly Cloudy, Antioch, CA
Got up at 7:00 to have a good and hot early shower before going back to bed around 7:30. It does take me some extra time for my shower as I play it safe. Dianne is on standby, just in case I need help.
As I got ready to go back to bed, Dianne had breakfast prepared for both of us to enjoy, especially since it was raining. I enjoyed my homemade buttermilk pancakes with a few scrambled eggs, blueberries and mandarin on the side. All topped off with a cup of hot chocolate.

Waking Up – 07:07:18 PST, 48°F Partly Cloudy, Antioch, CA
I woke up around 7:00, ready to have Dianne replace my Fentanyl patches and put my eye drops in. Dianne went downstairs to call Ron, her brother, in Canada. Before she ended her call, I talked to Ron about Flickr and how best to share our photos with your Friends and Family members. After the call, Dianne prepared breakfast for me to have in bed.
After breakfast, I slowing got up and ready to go downstairs. Being downstairs, I rested because my shoulder pain level had started to increase. It was also time for me taking my morning repertoire of medication.
