2017-05-23 Recovery Day 78

Today’s good news took some time to show up. Most of the day was used to talk about what is it with that shoulder? Some of the option were just to academic, such as “no brain, no pain”.

So what is the good news? It took some X-rays of the shoulder to determine that there is no bone being attached by the cancer, nor are there any breaks or tears. The concussion is that the pain is muscular and a possible chemo side effect. Now that we all know what it is, we will start tomorrow with resuming our PT and OT therapy addressing the muscular side of pain.

2017-05-18 Recovery Day 73

First the good news, sadly there isn’t that much to report. I was very much ready to have a successful OT/PT Day, but it all came crumpling down before my first OT session. The reason for all of this was a pain attack that set back the progress we had made in pain management. It is difficult for me to explain the why behind it, the only thing I understand is that we needed to make some adjustments to the OT/PT sessions.

The bad news, I believe we covered the bad part under the good news.

2017-05-12 Recovery Day 67

First the good news, last night the case manager for Alta Bates Summit Acute Rehabilitation Center came by doing a pre-evaluation to determine if I am a candidate for their recovery program. The preliminary answer was yes, the final answer will most likely be Monday. Until then, rest, rest and more rest, getting pain management back under control.

2017-05-11 Recovery Day 66

I like the format I used the last 10+ days, therefore let try it for a bit longer and see what your feedback is.

First the good news, surgery recovery is doing well, my doctor has suggested that the best way to get control of the surgery pain and learn what can and can’t be done, not only during recovery, is to check into a Acute Rehabilitation Center.

The bad news, as the night before, I have had trouble falling asleep because of the delay in getting my final 9:00 PM medication not until 10:30 PM. I was still awake by 12:30 AM. Actually the delay in pressing the attention button and the arrival of a person, is about 20 minutes. If you want the person to get you something, or the nurse determine you need something in addition, add another 20 minutes.mi am sure you get the idea.

2017-05-09 Recovery Day 64 – Final Version

First the good news, the surgery went well, I can move my feet and toes, move my arms, fingers and thumbs, in summery everything that moved before still does, and which did not does not. The report from the assistant surgeon was that they fixed twice the number of compressions that they had identified needed to be fixed. My spine was in a mess, no wonder all that pain.
