Is Apple cutting the MacBook’s throat with the iPad? The question — whether the company’s tablet cannibalizes sales of its own portable computing line — is ultimately impossible to answer, or at least quantify: One can’t look into a counter-factual crystal ball to view an alternate universe without the iPad.

We’ve noted many successful open source projects and products before on this blog, and the Web is arguably the biggest one of them all. Two such products we’ve failed to recognize, however, are the very first web browser and server, simply called World Wide Web, developed by Tim Berners-Lee.

Programming News: OO != Computing, Newer != More modern
Have you ever heard a Java-only programmer complain about your way of solving a problem is “bad because it is not object oriented”. Java is one of the (relative to Smalltalk or Lisp) new languages, hence it must be more modern, right? And ORMs are newer and hipper than those old boring outdated relational databases. Am I not right?
