Mac News: Apple’s next iPhone may sport HD-capable front camera, says analyst   
Apple’s sixth-generation iPhone could include a front-facing camera capable of HD resolution, according to a new analyst report. The Cupertino, Calif., company is expected to make “quite a few essential adjustments” to its next iPhone, KGI analyst Mingchi Kuo said in a note to investors earlier this week.

Technology News: Stuxnet expert calls US the “good guys” in cyber-warfare   
Sitting in the front row for the first full day of the International Conference on Cyber Conflict was one of the industry’s foremost “rock star” researchers, Ralph Langner. The German researcher has become one of the most-cited sources on Stuxnet, the US-and-Israeli computer worm that targeted Iran’s nuclear program. Langner’s 2011 TED talk has been seen over half a million times, and he spoke at last year’s CyCon here in Estonia.

Programming News: Early Access to “Confident Ruby” eBook Now Available   
Last year I gave a talk entitled “Confident Code” at several conferences and other venues, including RubyNation, RailsConf, Cascadia RubyConf, and Ruby Midwest. Judging by the talk reviews linked above, people seemed to like it. Something else I hear a lot about the talk is: “so now that Exceptional Ruby is out, when are you going to turn Confident Code” into a book? The answer to that question is: now. Or more accurately, over the next couple of months. And the name of that book is: Confident Ruby.

Standards News: Results of the World Standards Day 2012 poster competition   
The World Standards Cooperation (WSC) has announced the results of the poster competition for World Standards Day 2012 (14 October), which attracted almost 300 entries and over 4,000 votes. Open to all, the competition involved designing a poster on the theme “Less waste, better results – Standards increase efficiency”.
