While there is much more to both Microsoft’s new Surface tablet computer and Apple’s iPad than pure specifications, the physical and technological differences between the two devices are likely to play a part in which device tablet PC buyers might ultimately favor.

Other News: IBM helps U.S. regain world’s top supercomputer spot   
The United States, knocked from its top spot by China in 2010 and Japan in 2011, once again has the world’s fastest supercomputer, says a biannual scorecard Monday. Top speed went to the Department of Energy’s IBM BlueGene/Q system, nicknamed Sequoia, at its Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in Livermore, Calif., according to the Top500 list released Monday at the 2012 International Supercomputing Conference in Hamburg, Germany.
