Mac News: Apple Store overnights happening July 24. Mountain Lion launch the next day?   
We’ve heard a few whispers (3 and counting) that Apple Stores both in the United States and overseas have planned overnights for Tuesday, July 24th. With OS X Mountain Lion launching “in July”, according to Apple, we believe that it is sensible to speculate that this overnight may point to a public launch the following day.

Technology News: EU antitrust regulators to probe Microsoft over browser choice   
Microsoft is back under the EU antitrust spotlight after it was accused of failing to give its European customers a choice of Web browser, following the terms of a 2009 settlement. The European Commission said it had received complaints that Microsoft misled EU authorities over its “browser ballot” screen, which was first rolled out to Windows users in February 2010. The software giant may not have provided all customers with a screen where a choice of browser could be selected, the EU’s antitrust chief said today.

Programming News: The C Programming Language – Part 0   
If Programming Languages were cars, C would be a rough and tumble sports car crossed with a jeep. Not for everybody, but damned good to have when you want one. This is the first part of a series of notes on the C Programming Language as describe in The C Programming Language, 2nd Edition by Kernighan and Richie. C has an underserved bad reputation in the general programming community. My intent here is not to ‘teach’ the language so much as to explain what it is and what its place is in the plethora of languages.

Other News: Yahoo gets new CEO: Well-respected Google exec Marissa Mayer   
Longtime Google executive Marissa Mayer — one of Silicon Valley’s best-known personalities — starts work today as Yahoo CEO, becoming one of the most prominent female leaders in business. The struggling Internet giant announced Monday that it is turning to Mayer, 37 — its fifth CEO in five years — to spearhead a massive turnaround effort that has gained little traction the past few years.
