Commit Every Day, Blog Every Week

A new year is about to start in less then 12 hours. It is time for some new years resolutions. Last year my main resolution was to commit to take at least one picture a day as part of Project365. A few moments ago I posted the last set for this year, having fulfilled my commitment.

For starters I will continue with a new Project365 for 2014, committing to take a picture every day. In addition, my other resolution will be to write at least one photography related blog post every week for the next 52 weeks.

Why Blog about Photography?

I enjoyed the last 15 months since getting back into photography, especially the last 12 months thanks to Project365. I learned a lot, still have more to learn, but instead of being silent, I like to share my thoughts and experiences. Many times I’ve missed the opportunity to share not only the joy of capturing a great shoot, but also need to get feedback and suggestions to get better. With blogging, I hope to become a more active and find others that are willing to share their thoughts and experiences.

It’s a well noted fact, too, that engaging with other that share the same pastime, will help you get better at it. This is also something that I hope will benefit me if I force myself to blog regularly.

Why Commit?

At first I will start small with same background about me getting back into photography, my equipment and what I learned from my first Project365. One learns the hard way how frustrating it is when things don’t workout as planned. There were many times that I was wishing I knew more, and I am sure that there will be more of this occasions.

What type of Photography?

Having had time to explore the various fields of photography during 2013, I decided that to become better I should pick one type instead of continuing playing around with them all. Since over the years I not only have taken mostly landscape photos, but also enjoy them the most. As with most forms of art, the definition of a landscape photograph is broad, and may include urban settings, industrial areas, and nature photography, which does provide me with enough subjects to fulfill my commitment of a picture a day. As for 2013, I will continue to expand that to publishing four photos a day of the same object.

Thanks for tuning in and I’ll catch you next week.
