Apple News: 10 most useful upgrades of Apple’s iOS–8
Apple recently launched the new iPhones, but it may take some time before it lands in the hands of consumers in the Philippines. In the meantime, Filipino users of the iPhone can get a taste of what Apple has cooked up with the recent release of the iOS 8. App developer Yves Gonzalez, one of the brains behind the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) traffic app, listed down 10 upgrades of the operating system that Filipino users may find useful.

Technology News: Europe Seeks A Common Appeals Process For The ‘Right To Be Forgotten’
Data protection regulators in Europe are working on creating a common set of guidelines for handling appeals by individuals whose requests to search engines to de-index personal information, under the region’s recent right to be forgotten ruling, have been refused. The Article 29 Working Party (WP29), which is composed of representatives from the data protection regulators of individual European Union Member States, said the aim is to ensure a “coordinated and consistent approach” in the handling of complaints. The so-called ‘right to be forgotten’ (rtbf) refers to a judgement by Europe’s top court back in May which determined that search engines are data controllers and are therefore subject to European data protection legislation, and must accept and process requests by private individuals to remove links to outdated or irrelevant information about them.

Programming News: Why Scrum Should Basically Just Die In A Fire
Scrum, the Agile methodology allegedly favored by Google and Spotify, is a mess. Consider story points. If you’re not familiar with Scrum, here’s how they work: you play a game called “Planning Poker,” where somebody calls out a task, and then counts down from three to one. On one, the engineers hold up a card with the number of “story points” which represents the relative cost they estimate for performing the task. So, for example, a project manager might say “integrating our login system with OpenAuth and Bitcoin,” and you might put up the number 20, because it’s the maximum allowable value.
