Project 365: September 2013

Pictures taken during the month of September are part of Project 365. The theme for this month is Project “Walk Around Lens”. I have two lenses that fall into the category of being a “Walk Around” lens, the Sony Alpha DT 18–55/3.5–5.6 SAM kit lens that came with my A65, and the Konica Minolta AF DT 18–70/3.5–5.6 (D). The later was rebranded by Sony as the Sony Alpha DT 18–70/3.5–5.6 serving as kit lens until being replaced by the DT 18–55/3.5–5.6 SAM. Both are considered optical identical, however, based on actual reviews the Konica Minolta is considered better because of its different glass used. I was able to get a excellent copy of the Konica Minolta for next to nothing.

The goal for this month is to determine which of the two lenses is the best walk around lens for me to capture images of everyday objects and scenes? Nothing special, just landscapes, buildings and architecture, people, portraits, family events, fun events, snapshots and so on…general stuff. I will take photos each day with both lenses of the same subject to allow me to check on the quality of each lens, but also did it meet the required zoom for the subject in question.
