Mac News: Apple Looks to Flexible Displays for Unique Functionality
Apple’s invention relates to flexible displays that may include one or more flexible layers. A display cover such as a cover glass layer may be mounted over a flexible display. The flexible display may be OLED having a flexible substrate formed from one or more sheets of polymer. The flexible display may include a touch sensor layer having an array of capacitive touch sensor electrodes.

Technology News: California passes groundbreaking open textbook legislation
It’s official. In California, Governor Jerry Brown has signed two bills (SB 1052 and SB 1053) that will provide for the creation of free, openly licensed digital textbooks for the 50 most popular lower-division college courses offered by California colleges. The legislation was introduced by Senate President pro Tem Darrell Steinberg and passed by the California Senate and Assembly in late August.

Programming News: The Programmers Before Us Were Better
Gather round young coders while I tell you a little story. Way back when, far before you were born, we were building programs just like you are. After we trudged uphill barefoot in the snow, we went into a scorching hot room and we hit the plugboards with boundless enthusiasm, plugging switches in to “portable function tables” and doing arithmetic as it was meant to be done…slowly.

Photography News: 10 Tips for Enjoying a Photo Walk
There are a few reasons why I think photo walks are a great idea. Personally, my sense of creativity is boosted by movement and exposure to changing scenery. When I’m by myself I see my surroundings from a different perspective. When I’m with a group of people I enjoy seeing things from their perspective. I am challenged to use my photographic skills and tools in a different way and react to changing situations. At the end of the walk I take pride in the new discoveries that I’ve made.
